The UN Human Rights Office publishes a report, citing overcrowding as a major problem in Tunisia’s prison system.
The study of the penal system is one of a number of initiatives
undertaken by the Human Rights Office as part of an agreement with the
Tunisian Government to support the promotion and protection of human
rights in the country’s transition to democracy.
Sixty-five
years after the adoption of the Genocide Convention, the first human
rights treaty of the UN system, and the necessity of the Convention is
still recognized.
